March Music Writing Challenge Day 19: Combat

This was probably my 2024 AOTY, and I’m pumped to say I’ll be seeing them perform live in less than 2 weeks from this blog posting! They don’t come to Florida very often, let alone Central FL, so I’m really excited and grateful that I have the opportunity to see them.

Combat is a band that I came across when I was first getting into the DIY music scene, and the first song I heard was Stay Golden; I believe they had just released the single. As soon as I heard it, I knew these guys were the real deal. Everything about it from the kickass guitar melody that drives the song, to the raw vocals and relatable lyrics, it blew me away. 

Some of my personal favorites on the album, “Stay Golden”, are: Faith, Compound Sentences, Epic Season Finale, Full Speed Ahead, Happy Again, and Put Me In, Coach. I find myself singing these songs in the shower at least weekly since the album was released in August of 2024.

I look forward to seeing them perform soon and urge you to listen to them ESPECIALLY if you dig emo, punk, or pop-punk genres. Their music is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp!
