March Music Writing Challenge Day 15: Brown Maple

A little over a year ago, I came across an artist called Brown Maple as I was dipping my toes in the DIY music community. They released an EP called “I’ll Get Around to It”, and it was one of the first cassettes I bought after getting into this scene. It’s a 4-track EP, and EVERY song on it is catchy, gorgeous, and expertly written.

It’s full of heart-wrenching lyrics, cathartic screams, and top-notch vocals. My personal favorites are Big Ahh Lizard and MPL, they were some of the first sounds I heard from them and what made me fall in love with this band.

If they ever tour anywhere close to Central Florida, you bet your ass I’ll be standing at the front and yelling with them. If you like midwest emo, punk, or any mix of the two, this artist is for you. Take a listen to this EP as soon as you can, it’s only 15 minutes of your time and you may find your new favorite artist.
