March Music Writing Challenge Day 13: Equipment

One of my favorite albums of all time has entered the chat. Sorry if that was cringey, but that doesn’t make it false. Over the past two years, Equipment has shot to my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Every song they put out is an unchallenged masterpiece to me, and seeing them live a few months ago was PEAK for me.

This coming-of-age album, “Alt. Account”, is full of songs about drinking, uncomfortable social interactions, low self-esteem, and coming to grips with the honest (and sometimes ugly) parts of yourself. Nick is a MASTER at crafting a story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The band's sick guitar riffs, unbeatable drums, and sweet online presence make them a true TITAN in the DIY/emo community.

They also run Kleptophase, a record label they use to sign all of their musician friends to and promote their art. I previously wrote about Waving, Dungeon Item, and plan on doing a blurb about Marble Teeth, all signed to Kleptophase. We love genuine people who promote community and help out other artists in any way they can.

Every song on this album is good and I really mean that. Some of my personal favorites (a hard list to make) are Lo/Fo, Bad Bets, Minnow, Username, and Your Clothes Without You in Them. Their entire discography is honestly unmatched in so many ways, they deserve any and all success they gain (and 100X more at least).
